This piece is stibnite through and through — no matrix to speak of, just hundreds of chrome-bright blades interlocked into a solid, glittering mountain of metal. Broad striated crystals stack over needle-fine ones, and every surface throws light; in hand it reads like a sculpture welded from mirror steel.
From the Lengshuijiang antimony district of Hunan, the world’s benchmark for the species. All-crystal masses like this are how the mine’s richest pockets came out, and they carry a presence that matrix pieces at the same size cannot match: 621 g of pure crystallized ore.
