About this specimen

Hoarfrost is the closest everyday equivalent: a continuous skin of minute quartz crystals has grown over every face of this fluorite, softening the cube edges into a rounded, snow-packed silhouette. Look through the crust and the body underneath is largely water-clear — tinted lilac-grey through the upper half, warming to a soft celery green along the right flank, with a few faint apricot ghosts trapped deeper in.

This is the sugar-fluorite look Fujian is known for, and it records two events rather than one: fluorite crystallises first, then a later, cooler silica-bearing fluid seeds quartz right across the finished surface. The quartz shell is Mohs 7 and does the fluorite (Mohs 4) a real favour by armouring it, but the cleavage underneath is unchanged. Never try to scrub the frosting off, and never put a piece like this through an ultrasonic tank.

It measures 4.8 × 3.8 × 3.6 cm and weighs 95 g, a palm-sized piece photographed loose in the hand with no base. What you see in these images is the specimen that ships.

Frequently asked questions

Will I receive the exact specimen shown?

Yes. Every specimen is a single, one-of-a-kind piece, and the photographs show the exact item you will receive — never a stock photo.

Is this Fluorite natural?

Yes — specimens like this form naturally. As is standard in the trade, some pieces are gently cleaned or trimmed; we photograph the actual specimen and describe its origin and condition conservatively.

How is it packed and shipped?

Orders ship worldwide with fully insured, tracked delivery, carefully packed to protect fragile crystals. A display base is included.

Can I return it?

Yes — there is a 14-day return window.
