About this specimen

Xuebaoding, Sichuan, aquamarine with mica and feldspar at 5.5 cm and 89 g; a small cabinet piece with two display sides. A plate of tan mica and white feldspar with pale aquamarine crystals grown on both faces, which the supplier points out.

Glassy hexagonal prisms and a sea-blue tone define the aquamarine variety.

Mica forms pearly hexagonal books that catch the light between the other crystals. Feldspar is the matrix of choice in Chinese pegmatite specimens: blocky cream to pale-orange crystals that set off the garnet, quartz and tourmaline growing on them.

The Xuebaoding veins of Pingwu County, Sichuan, produced the orange scheelite and muscovite-aquamarine combinations that put Chinese minerals on the map.

By size it is small cabinet, 5.3 × 2.6 × 5.5 cm (2.09 × 1.02 × 2.17 in) and 89 g (3.1 oz). The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.

Every specimen here is photographed and catalogued individually before listing.
