About this specimen
Guizhou phosphorescent white calcite at 16 g; a miniature for the UV collector.
Calcium carbonate in its rhombohedral form, calcite is soft (Mohs 3) and takes a bright vitreous to pearly lustre on fresh faces.
Guizhou is the source of the collector creedite and hosts important fluorite, calcite and copper-mineral localities around Qinglong.
By size it is miniature, 3.8 × 2.8 × 2.1 cm (1.50 × 1.10 × 0.83 in) and 16 g (0.6 oz). The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.
Carbonate: never clean with acid or vinegar.
