이 네이멍구 판상 표본의 왼쪽에는 바다빛 초록 형석 입방정 하나가 높이 올라앉아 있습니다. 유리질에 모서리가 날카롭고, 그 안에는 어두운 각진 형체가 떠 있습니다. 결정이 자라던 도중의 이전 단계가 붙잡힌 뒤 맑은 초록에 덮여 다시 자란 것입니다. 그 둘레의 모암은 레몬빛과 올리브빛 작은 구체들로 뒤덮여 있고, 아래쪽 가장자리를 따라서는 물처럼 맑은 입방정 서너 개가 색이라고 할 것이 거의 없이 빛을 받습니다.
이런 팬텀은 멈춤의 기록입니다. 결정이 자라다가 용액에 변화가 생기고, 다른 광물이 얇게 내려앉거나 화학 조성이 바뀐 뒤 그 덮인 면 위로 성장이 다시 시작되면서, 옛 윤곽이 영구히 봉인된 것입니다. 형석(CaF2)은 모스 경도 4에 네 방향 완전 벽개를 지니므로, 표본이 빽빽한 선반에서는 더 단단한 표본과 닿지 않게 두십시오.
