About this specimen

Dimensions: 2.2 × 1.5 × 3.1 cm (0.87 × 0.59 × 1.22 in); longest edge 31 mm (1.22 in).

Dark specular hematite rosettes gather above a group of tan andradite garnets. A pale quartz crystal crosses the front near the upper half, standing out against the black reflective growth. The larger garnet faces remain visible along the lower portion. The angled photograph shows how the dark rosettes project beyond the brown supporting crystals, creating an upright association with three contrasting textures: layered black faces, broad tan planes and pale quartz. Estimated weight: 10 g / 0.35 oz, calculated from its dimensions.
