About this specimen
Jinkouhe, Sichuan, quartz at 5.6 cm and 26 g; a small cabinet floater, priced with the tip disclosed. A quartz crystal packed with black inclusions and a bright rainbow flash near the tip, the base grown free as the supplier notes; the supplier notes a slightly damaged tip.
Good quartz is about hexagonal prisms with clean terminations and the glassy lustre that lets a cluster catch light from every angle.
Jinkouhe in Leshan, Sichuan, is the source of prehnite, gypsum and epidote specimens from a road-cut skarn discovered in the 2010s.
By size it is small cabinet, 1.7 × 1.6 × 5.6 cm (0.67 × 0.63 × 2.20 in) and 26 g (0.9 oz). Disclosed condition: a slightly damaged tip. The price reflects it and the photographs show the affected area. The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.
Specimens are photographed and catalogued one at a time before they reach this page.
