About this specimen
Guizhou creedite at 2.5 cm; a miniature, supplied in the display box shown. Creedite crystals in colourless to white stand up from the base in a ragged spray, the individual prisms glassy and sharp with a few catching an orange stain at their tips.
A hydrated calcium-aluminium sulfate-fluoride, creedite is rare in good crystals, and the sparkling sprays from Guizhou are the reference material for most collections.
Guizhou's Qinglong antimony-fluorite district is the classic source for creedite sprays and continues to produce zoned fluorite and calcite.
Dimensions place it in the miniature range, 2.5 × 2.2 × 1.5 cm (0.98 × 0.87 × 0.59 in). Otherwise the piece is sold exactly as photographed.
