About this specimen
Sichuan epidote with quartz at 4.8 cm and 26 g; a miniature. A cluster of olive-green epidote in blocky, glossy crystals with small quartz crystals capped in white, the white-hat quartz the supplier names.
Epidote forms pistachio-green prismatic crystals, often striated, and is a classic companion of quartz and feldspar in Chinese skarn deposits.
Quartz is the most collected mineral on earth for good reason: sharp hexagonal prisms, bright terminations and endless variation between localities.
Sichuan's alpine-type veins and skarns yield aquamarine, prehnite, epidote and scheelite of international quality.
