Moroccan vanadinite on baryte at 6.5 cm and 78 g; a small cabinet piece with classic colour. Contains lead: wash hands after handling.
Flat hexagonal crystals and a rich red-brown colour are what Morocco is famous for in vanadinite; wash hands after handling.
Baryte (barite) is barium sulfate: heavy for its size, soft, and prone to tabular or bladed crystals with a bright vitreous lustre.
Morocco's Mibladen and Touissit districts are the classic source of vanadinite, cerussite and baryte, mined from lead deposits in the High Atlas.
By size it is small cabinet, 6.5 × 4 × 3 cm (2.56 × 1.57 × 1.18 in) and 78 g (2.8 oz). The specimen is otherwise sold in the condition shown.
