About this specimen
Morocco vanadinite at 2.7 cm; a miniature, supplied in the display box shown. Vanadinite in peach to brick red grown in stacked plates that climb in an irregular column, the edges of each layer standing proud of the one beneath.
Vanadinite forms red to orange-brown hexagonal plates and barrels with a resinous lustre; the Moroccan material from Mibladen is the classic.
Moroccan vanadinite from the Mibladen district is the world standard for the species, prized for red colour and sharp hexagonal form.
Dimensions place it in the miniature range, 2.7 × 1.7 × 0.9 cm (1.06 × 0.67 × 0.35 in). Otherwise the piece is sold exactly as photographed.
