About this specimen
A row of octahedral fluorite crystals runs the length of the piece, each one zoned from lilac and violet at the edges to sea-green in the core, with frosted quartz filling the gaps between them. The octahedra are stepped and slightly etched, so light bounces between the tiers rather than off flat faces.
Fujian octahedral fluorite in two colours on quartz is the province's signature specimen type; a piece with this many complete octahedra in a row is a solid cabinet example that displays well from either side.
