About this specimen
Thousands of fine blue needles crowd this little citrine sphere, crossing at every angle so the inside looks like a frosty thicket or a starry sky. They are dense and easy to see, especially with a light behind the ball, when the pale yellow quartz glows and the needles turn bright blue-white.
A single band runs through the middle of the sphere, dividing the needles into two fields; apart from that band and the needles, the crystal is very clean. It is polished and small, about the size to hold between two fingers, which is also the best way to look into it.
