About this specimen
Jinkouhe, Leshan, Sichuan, citrine at 2.8 cm; a miniature, supplied in the display box shown. Slender quartz points in warm amber rise from a crust of white crystals, the amber colour strongest along the tips and clearing towards the base.
Natural citrine of this kind is pale to honey yellow and keeps the glassy transparency of the parent quartz.
Sichuan hosts Xuebaoding, Jinkouhe and Leshan, sources of aquamarine, scheelite, prehnite, gypsum and the epidote-quartz skarn specimens seen here.
The piece is miniature in size, 2.5 × 1.9 × 2.8 cm (0.98 × 0.75 × 1.10 in). Condition is otherwise as photographed.
