About this specimen
Dimensions: 6.4 × 6.4 × 6.4 cm (2.52 × 2.52 × 2.52 in); longest edge 64 mm (2.52 in).
Soft white fibres drift through this citrine sphere like strands of cloud. They gather most thickly through the middle and fade toward the rim, so the ball shifts from misty to clear as it turns. The body colour is a gentle natural honey, warm without being heavy.
In one view a small smoky patch appears near the base, and in good light the sphere shows faint rainbows among the fibres. It comes from Brazil and is polished to a smooth, glossy finish. Backlit by a window, it glows a pale gold, a quiet and pleasing sphere for a desk or bedside shelf.
