About this specimen
Dimensions: 24.0 × 13.0 × 6.0 cm (9.45 × 5.12 × 2.36 in); longest edge 240 mm (9.45 in).
This big rough citrine from Zambia is all natural surfaces: long glossy faces etched with fine horizontal striations, stepped terminations that climb toward a tall main point, and smaller crystals fanned along one side. The colour is a pale champagne yellow, light and clean, that turns gently golden where sunlight comes through.
Warm rusty-orange staining settles in the crevices at the base and covers much of the reverse, giving the piece an earthy, freshly-mined character next to the clear crystal. Nothing has been cut or polished. Long and blade-like, it makes a strong horizontal or upright display on a broad shelf.
