About this specimen
The rainbows are huge. Several broad, warm-toned rainbows sit inside this pale Brazilian citrine, each one a full set of concentric rings, pink at the centre and spreading through green, gold and violet. From some angles one rainbow fills nearly half the sphere.
The citrine is a very light yellow, close to water-clear in our photos, which lets the colours sit against an almost colourless background. Feathery white veils add texture, and one view shows a fringe of white grass-like inclusions along an internal plane. The sphere is polished, and the rainbows are visible even in ordinary daylight.
