About this specimen

Two minerals share the stage here. A chunky natural-colour citrine crystal from Mozambique, warm smoky honey in tone, is partly cloaked in a crust of lepidolite, the lilac-purple mica that glitters like crushed sequins in sunlight. The contrast between the smooth golden faces and the sparkling purple coating is what makes this specimen.
On the clear faces you can see fine white growth lines tracing earlier crystal outlines, and one face shows a frosted panel. The underside is a pale, milky natural break. Unpolished and solid, it is a satisfying collector piece for a shelf where light can catch the mica.
