About this specimen

A violet shadow pools deep in the core of the larger of two glassy lilac fluorite cubes riding the left shoulder of this Yaogangxian piece; the smaller one steps against it at an angle, near-transparent where the light comes through its edge. Everything beneath is a knobbly crust of pale lilac mica, granular as coarse sugar, with a few colourless needles and the odd brassy pyrite crumb caught in the hollows.

The tungsten workings at Yaogangxian are best known for fluorite, but it is the lavender mica carpet that gives plates like this their ground: glass set on velvet rather than crystal on bare rock. Fluorite reads vitreous, never metallic, and at Mohs 4 with perfect octahedral cleavage a knock on an exposed cube corner takes a clean chip straight off.

5.8 × 5.1 × 3.6 cm and 105 g, unmounted and photographed in an open hand. The specimen you receive is the one in these frames.

Will I receive the exact specimen shown?

Yes. Every specimen is a single, one-of-a-kind piece, and the photographs show the exact item you will receive — never a stock photo.

Yes — specimens like this form naturally. As is standard in the trade, some pieces are gently cleaned or trimmed; we photograph the actual specimen and describe its origin and condition conservatively.

How is it packed and shipped?

Orders ship worldwide with fully insured, tracked delivery, carefully packed to protect fragile crystals. A display base is included.

Can I return it?

Yes — there is a 14-day return window.
