About this specimen
Most of the time this sphere looks like a clean ball of tea-coloured quartz, so clear it flips the view behind it upside down. Shine a torch through it, though, and a soft blue fog appears inside, a glowing haze that fills one half of the ball and fades into fine feathery veils near the rim.
The colour is natural, a warm smoky citrine somewhere between honey and tea. In bright sun it throws back sharp reflections, and in one photo a small rainbow shows in the lower half. It is a polished sphere from Brazil, a comfortable handful at this size and lovely on a windowsill or a clear stand. A video is included with the listing.
