About this specimen
Dimensions: 16.5 × 14.5 × 9.5 cm (6.50 × 5.71 × 3.74 in); longest edge 165 mm (6.50 in).
The colour of this citrine is a deep amber gold, the warm shade traditionally compared to a ripe melon, and it runs richly through the whole upper body before fading to grey-white at the rough natural base. Polished faces meet at a broad point, and through them you can see phantom mountains layered within the crystal, with small rainbows flashing in the sun.
Individual calcite crystals rest on the phantom mountain inside, a detail that rewards close looking. The underside keeps its natural broken texture, including a darker crystalline pocket.
