About this specimen
Half rime, half stone. One end of this Fujian miniature is a bright white crust of sugar-fine quartz; the other lets grey-green fluorite show through a thinner sparkling skin, the blocky crystal outlines still readable beneath the coating, with a faint lilac tone entering along the lower edge.
Fujian’s fluorite pockets often close with a final quartz event, and this piece catches the handover mid-way — enough druse to frost the surface, not so much that the fluorite disappears under it. The two hardnesses now sit side by side: quartz at Mohs 7, hard-wearing and happy to be rinsed, and fluorite at Mohs 4 beneath it, which is where any future damage will show first. Rinse in cool water, dry in air, and leave the frost alone.
Compact and self-standing at 6.0 × 5.0 × 3.0 cm and 150 g, shown in the hand for scale with no base. The pictures record this individual specimen, not a representative sample.
